Testimonials

‘SPECIAL MOTHER WITH SHUMPUN’ It was 2003. It was an unexpected time to me that I could not imagine. I came to know that my son had a problem of eye contact and delay speech at the age of three. Then I consulted with a doctor about his problem and he told that he was an autistic child. The word ‘AUTISTIC’ was unknown to me at that time so that I could not understand the importance of it. Then I had been living in Hyderabad . Due to his delay speech problem , the doctor advised me to return Kolkata and stress on his mother tongue as well as therapy would be continued. As a mother of autistic child, I began to start my journey and involved with SHUMPUN FOUNDATION in 2007. Then SHUMPUN known as ATHENA FOUNDATION .During the therapy , I came to know what the autistic was and it was not an easy journey to me. It continued near about ten years (2007 -2017). I gathered a lot of experience during this ten years. I joined to SHUMPUN as a mother of special child in 2014. As an active member of SHUMPUN I wanted to share my experience with those parents who have been suffering about the problem of their autistic children. The special educator Ms MANJULIKA MAZUMDAR, One of the founder members of SHUMPUN FOUNDATION inspired me to be strong determined mother. My message to those parents of special children is that they have to careful of their children. They will think about their problems and try to solve their problems patiently and positively. In this way I brought my autistic son in a main stream. Now my son leads a normal life.

Here I had a very different and pleasant experience as I realised the process in which they teach the kids is very different from other institutes. Sayangbita Das, my daughter was diagnosed with ADHD and social communication disorder when she was 4 years old. She was very much restless, couldn't sit at any place for not even 5 minutes earlier. Today she is studying in class 9 and becomes so calm, obedient and empathetic, as she is doing quite well with her studies. Today she is completely different from what she was in her childhood. I am very much thankful to Shumpun Foundation, for my daughter's such behavioural development.

Our journey with Shumpun foundation started a year back when in the middle of the pandemic we took our son Viraaj for assessment and sessions started online. From the beginning we understood that the sessions here were different and more specific to his needs unlike other institutions. The sessions are a one -to-one interaction which has helped us as a family to understand our son's need and be considerate to those requirements. As our son is growing up, we feel lucky to have the right guidance under the Shumpun foundation and feel overjoyed to see the positive impact it is making in his overall growth.

Mother of Souradip Chattopadhyay(11yr) and Somdipta Chattopadhyay (7yr).We're here, working under guidance of Manjulika madam for last eight years. Both my children have learning and communication difficulty as well as sensory issues. With support from Shumpun Foundation both of them are learning to live a "normal" life. And I'm also learning with them, to be a good mother as well as a good human being.

Our relationship with Manjulika maam dates back to the year 2011. We discontinued due to change in cities and with time we could not sustain the development that my son had achieved under guidance of Ma'am. Over the years things went out of hand so we got back in touch with Manjulika maam. By that time she had formally started Shumpun foundation. Shumpun Foundation i must say is doing some groundbreaking work in the field of not just autism but other disabilities as well. Led by a visionary lady and supported by extremely competent mothers give outstanding results with their interventions.I have been working with them for about 10 months now and my child has shown amazing improvements.. Though we are still taking baby steps but am confident that me n my child will be able to cruise through with the amazing guidance of Shumpun... Cant thank enough... Manjulika maam and team Shumpun. Keep up the positivity and keep instilling it in us!!!

I'm Swati mother of 5 yr old Shon. When i started classes with shumpun, initially my experience was not good. I didn't understand the way they teach as it was not like the other places. Here the focus is more on parent who eventually teach the child throughout the day. Gradually i understood, and followed Manjulika Ma'am, i saw the improvement in my child, it felt so good. Since two years i am associated with shumpun, here they are not only give training on autism, but also they teach how to become a good parent.Thank you!
